Memorandum

This was the first order received from the Archbishop of Barcelona. The acces space in the Basílica de Santa Maria del Pi had become deteriorated and with no significance. Moreover, the old wooden gate had been moved and hidden in a side where "els Gegants del Pi" remained out of the sight of the visitants. The project, following the idea of "The Atrium of the Gentiles", was to offer a catechetical space about the three initial sacraments of christianism open to the public, to view a characteristic cultural element of the city such as "els Gegants del Pi" and create a control and tickets point for the museum exhibition.

Of the three sacraments of the initiation, two were already at the end of this space: the Baptismal Chapel an de the Chapel of Blood. Remained to be represented the sacrament of confirmation, characterizaed by the cross sign. This one was materialized with a large pine cross presiding the new glazed lock located between the choir and the nave as an internal facade, which let the vision of the gothic arches of the nave from the street. Furthermore, the old wooden gate was reformed and relocated becoming the new closet of "els Gegants del Pi" as a cultural icon visible for the citizens and a showcase and control furniture was designed on the other end of the sapce gate.
